Job description
Position Title: Table Games Shift Manager Reports To: Shift Manager Department: Table Games - 012505 Shift: Varies Role: The Table Games Shift Manager oversees all Table Games operations during an assigned shift, ensuring game integrity, regulatory compliance, and exceptional guest service. This role manages floor staff, monitors game performance, resolves guest issues, and maintains a secure and efficient gaming environment.
The Shift Manager ensures all table games run smoothly, staffing levels are appropriate, and operational standards are consistently met. They work closely with the Director of Table Games and VP of Casino Operations to support departmental goals and overall casino performance. Adheres to all Company, Safety and Department policies and procedures.
Fosters teamwork and provides excellent guest service, anticipates guest needs to exceed guest expectations. Builds brand loyalty by living the JW Marriott Core Values.
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent) Experience: Minimum of 3 years as in a supervisor or Management table game’s role. Skills: Fluent in English, with strong reading, writing, and comprehension abilities. Demonstrated leadership strength, with proven success guiding teams, making sound decisions, and managing shift ‑ level operations.
Outstanding communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation capabilities. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and other essential software tools. Advanced expertise with casino operating systems, including Pit. Boss, Bravo, Casino. Soft, OPTX, and other platforms used within the property.
Deep understanding of gaming regulations, internal controls, and compliance standards governing casino operations and table games. Exceptional guest service abilities, with a strong focus on creating positive, engaging, and memorable guest experiences. High-level multitasking and organizational skills, with the ability to oversee multiple games, staff members, and guest interactions in a fast-paced environment.
Skilled in coaching, correcting, and disciplining staff, ensuring consistent performance and adherence to procedures. Authorized and trained to approve credit in accordance with casino credit policies and established controls. Professional and polished demeanor, consistently setting the tone for behavior, service, and performance across the department.
Unwavering adherence to regulatory, company, and departmental policies, promoting operational integrity and accountability. Comprehensive knowledge of all table game types, including rules, procedures, game protection techniques, and variations. Accurate understanding of jackpot calculations and payouts within the table games environment.
Ability to verify and ensure proper jackpot payouts from all gaming departments requiring managerial review or approval. Required: Must be at least 21 years of age. Required Work Cards needed: Valid Nevada Gaming License Valid Alcohol Awareness Card (TAM Card) Key Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following: Leadership, Communication & Operational Oversight Communicates all relevant gaming, personnel, and operational updates to the Director of Table Games and VP of Casino Operations to ensure consistent alignment and informed decision‑making.
Provides full leadership for the Table Games department during assigned shifts, maintaining operational standards and overseeing the gaming floor. Actively monitors all departments during the shift, identifying service gaps or operational issues and coordinating immediate corrective action. Provides visible leadership on the casino floor, reinforcing professionalism, guest engagement, and adherence to established service standards.
Manages shift planning activities, including staffing levels, break schedules, table assignments, and rotations to optimize game coverage and guest satisfaction . Guest Experience & Player Development Supports guest development initiatives by building relationships with players and encouraging loyalty through exceptional service.
Resolves guest concerns, disputes, and high‑pressure situations promptly and professionally while ensuring fairness and protecting casino integrity. Observes guest interactions to ensure team members deliver consistent, welcoming, and high‑quality service. Compliance, Game Protection & Integrity Ensures strict compliance with gaming regulations, internal controls, and company policies across all table games during the shift.
Assesses complex or unusual circumstances using sound judgment to balance guest service, regulatory requirements, and casino policy. Identifies advantage play, suspicious behavior, and cheating attempts, taking prompt action to protect the integrity of the games. Oversees accurate handling of jackpots, fills, credits, and all financial transactions, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Collaborates closely with Surveillance and Security regarding potential game protection issues, investigations, or policy violations. Team Development, Coaching & Performance Management Trains Dealers and Supervisors on procedures, internal controls, game rules, and customer service expectations to ensure consistent performance.
Provides ongoing coaching and mentorship, offering real‑time performance feedback and follow‑up training when necessary. Conducts performance reviews and merit evaluations in accordance with company standards. Enforces departmental policies and behavioral expectations, issuing fair, consistent, and documented discipline when required.
Cross‑Department Collaboration Works professionally with Security, Surveillance, HR, Finance/Cage, Marketing, and other departments to ensure smooth and compliant operations. Maintains working knowledge of related department SOPs and assists with processes such as issuing marketing comps or creating player cards when needed.
Supports leadership with cross‑functional initiatives, projects, and operational adjustments to meet departmental and casino‑wide goals . Administrative, Reporting & Special Projects Accurately completes daily reports, shift summaries, incident documentation, and other required operational paperwork. Assists with developing and updating departmental policies, procedures, and training materials to enhance efficiency and compliance.
Manages assigned special projects that support operational improvements, departmental goals, or strategic initiatives. Utilizes casino systems and data tools (e.g., Bravo, Casino. Soft, OPTX) to analyze performance metrics and support informed operational decisions. Scheduling & Work Requirements Works varied schedules—including nights, weekends, holidays, and high‑volume events—based on business demands.

When on the casino floor, the noise level increases too loud. Additionally, smoking is permitted in casino areas consistent with Nevada state regulations, which are followed by the employer.
Interacts with management, fellow Associates and/or guests. Ability to verbally communicate effectively with guests and coworkers Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (five hours or more). Comfortable working in a fast-paced, upscale environment. Requires transporting, pushing, pulling, and maneuvering items weighing up to 25 lbs.
Requires items weighing up to 15 lbs. Requires eye/hand coordination. May require basic math with the ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols.
