Cam. Nature of Work: The Senior Sports Accountant is an integral part of the Accounting team for the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche. This role helps to ensure that the month-end close process is as efficient and effective as possible. This position is responsible for calculating, posting, verifying, and recording of financial transactions necessary to produce timely and accurate financial statements.

Additionally, this position will provide a first-level analytical review and summary of the financial statements. Examples of work performed: Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards, regulatory requirements, and any external reporting requirements. Prepare or review month-end reports to accompany monthly financial statements and complete reconciliations on all balance sheet accounts in support of the monthly financial statements for assigned teams.

Conduct reviews with Nuggets and Avalanche department heads monthly to review financial statements and make any necessary adjustments. Complete journal entries necessary to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. Analysis and interpretation of financial data. Research and resolve any identified variances. AD Hoc system reporting and journal entry uploads.

Coordinate and assist in the preparation of required league reports. Support the preparation of annual audits for selected companies. Coordination of information between multiple systems across multiple entities. Effectively communicate findings and corrective actions with staff and management. Project work as assigned.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands: Typical Office Conditions Lift 50 lbs. daily Work in extreme weather conditions Qualifications: Minimum 2-4+ years of demonstrated accounting experience. Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office software programs, with advanced Excel skills. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred CPA or CPA-track a plus. Degree in accounting is strongly preferred. Public accounting experience a plus. Experience in Microsoft Dynamics a plus. Ability to acquire or produce and maintain a valid driver’s license and meet company vehicle driving standards. Competencies/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Demonstrated accounting and finance knowledge and experience.

Excellent systems aptitude and strong analytical skills. Excel at problem solving and detail oriented. General ledger knowledge and financial analysis skills a must. Excels in a time-sensitive, deadline driven environment with the ability to prioritize and keep a positive attitude. High detail orientation and problem-solving skills required.

Superior verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate successfully with people at many levels within the company.

Compensation
