Quality Assurance Engineer I

United States Steel Corporation has an immediate opening for a Quality Systems Engineer in our Quality Management System/Corporate Quality Assurance organization. This role oversees and improves the Quality Management System to keep business operations compliant with customer and industry standards. This position will be based at our Gary, IN location.

The position will involve occasional travel.

Responsibilities include

Understanding of the Quality Management System policies and procedures including Core Tools, the electronic systems and overall information flow that supports the system Responsible for successful deployment of Quality Management System to support compliance to ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 as well as Customer Specific Requirements Participate and drive an internal audit program Manage relevant concepts including corrective action, continual improvement, change point management & management review processes Coordinate with Operations, Quality, Maintenance and other departments to ensure training competencies, implement corrective/preventative actions and develop effective practices and procedures Support Customer Technical Service and Sales in maintaining their pertinent pieces of the Quality Management System Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in related field Minimum 2 years of experience Quality Management Systems, including ISO 9001 and/or IATF 16949 Minimum five years of experience in manufacturing Minimum two years of experience with AIAG IATF Core Tools Minimum one year of experience internal Quality Systems auditing Or an equivalent combination of education and experience Requirements: Strong Technical Writing, Communication and Organizational Skills Proficient in Microsoft Office tools
