Utility Systems Technician – Water Distribution

Job Purpose: The purpose of this position is to collect and test water samples and install, inspect, test, repair, and replace water meters and backflow devices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Tests, repairs, and replaces water meters. Responds to customer inquiries or complaints. Performs routine flushing of fire hydrants and blow offs at dead end waterlines and other problem areas. Completes analysis and reports and documents information from inspections, testing, and maintenance. Maintains, calibrates and cleans all necessary equipment for jobs.

Supplemental Functions: Performs other similar duties as required. Job Specifications and Qualifications: Knowledge: Applicable local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations; Utility Services principles and practices; Equipment and tools of the trade. Licensing and Certifications: Valid North Carolina Class A Commercial Driver’s License preferred or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire.
