Years of Experience: 5+ years of B2B sales or business development experience within Canadian financial services Position Summary The Account Executive, Securities & Financial Institutions is responsible for driving enterprise sales growth within Canada's securities and financial services market. This role focuses on generating new business opportunities and expanding existing institutional relationships with banks, investment dealers, wealth management firms, credit unions, and other regulated financial organizations.
This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to compliance, human resources, learning and development, and training leaders to identify licensing and education solutions that support advisor onboarding, regulatory compliance, and professional development objectives. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of the Canadian securities licensing landscape, an established professional network within financial institutions, and a proven ability to independently manage and close complex enterprise opportunities.
The Account Executive will leverage existing relationships, attend industry events, develop strategic outreach initiatives, and maintain a healthy sales pipeline to achieve revenue objectives while representing See. Why Learning as a trusted education partner within the financial services industry.
Essential Functions
/ Job Responsibilities Build and manage a pipeline of financial institution accounts across Canada while expanding existing See. Why Learning relationships and pursuing net-new enterprise partnerships. Prospect, qualify, and close multi-seat licensing and education agreements with banks, investment dealers, wealth management firms, and credit unions.
Identify, engage, and influence key decision makers including Compliance Officers, Human Resources Directors, Learning & Development Managers, and Training Leaders. Navigate complex procurement processes, contract negotiations, and multi-stakeholder purchasing environments through successful close. Structure agreements that drive enrollment growth, recurring revenue, and long-term client retention.
Leverage existing contacts and industry relationships to generate referrals, introductions, and qualified opportunities. Attend CIRO-affiliated events, securities conferences, compliance forums, and networking opportunities to expand market presence and strengthen industry relationships. Develop consultative sales strategies focused on compliance requirements, advisor licensing needs, learner outcomes, and return on investment.
Maintain accurate account, contact, opportunity, and forecasting data within Salesforce or equivalent CRM platforms. Monitor market activity, regulatory developments, licensing requirements, and industry trends affecting institutional training and advisor education. Provide leadership with market intelligence regarding customer needs, buying patterns, competitive activity, and emerging opportunities.
Collaborate with marketing, customer success, and leadership teams to support strategic growth initiatives and client retention efforts. Deliver weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales activity updates, forecasts, and pipeline reports. Consistently achieve or exceed assigned sales quotas and revenue objectives. Minimum Requirements Minimum of 5 years of B2B sales, business development, or account management experience within Canadian financial services.
Experience selling products or services to financial institutions including banks, investment dealers, wealth management firms, and credit unions, or experience working within a financial services education, credentialing, compliance, or regulatory organization. Demonstrated success identifying, developing, and closing net-new business opportunities.
Established network of professional contacts within Canadian financial institutions. Strong understanding of Canadian securities licensing requirements and advisor education pathways. Experience managing long-cycle enterprise sales opportunities involving multiple stakeholders and decision makers. Proven ability to build and maintain strategic client relationships that result in revenue growth and client retention.
Ability to work independently and effectively manage priorities in a remote work environment. Skills Required Strong consultative sales, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. Demonstrated ability to generate new business opportunities through networking, prospecting, and strategic account development. Excellent oral, written, presentation, and communication skills.
Strong organizational, planning, and territory management capabilities. Ability to influence executive-level and functional decision makers. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong business acumen and understanding of enterprise buying processes.
Ability to travel to client sites, conferences, and industry events as needed. Commission-driven mindset with a track record of achieving sales targets. Technical Skills Required Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Experience using Salesforce or equivalent CRM platforms. Experience utilizing LinkedIn Sales Navigator and other business development tools.
Proficiency with video conferencing platforms including Microsoft Teams and Zoom. Ability to learn and adapt to new software, sales technologies, and business tools. Experience maintaining sales forecasts, pipeline management, and account tracking systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Direct experience selling compliance training, licensing education, Ed. Tech, learning solutions, or SaaS products to financial institutions. Existing relationships within Canada's Big 6 banks, major investment dealers, wealth management organizations, or credit union networks. Holds or previously held a securities industry designation or registration including CSC, CIM, CFP, or CIRO registration.
Familiarity with enterprise training procurement and administration processes. Bilingual English and French. Supervisory Responsibility This position does not supervise the work of others.
