IT Quality Engineer - Swing Shift

The IT Quality Engineer is responsible for executing the day-to-day testing activities to ensure software applications meet functional requirements and quality standards. The role involves creating and executing manual test cases, identifying defects, and contributing to the automation suite using Playwright. Working within an Agile team, the IT Quality Engineer ensures that every release is stable and user-friendly by leveraging Jira and X-ray for meticulous test management and documentation in Confluence.

Essential Duties

Execute manual functional, regression, and smoke tests to ensure application stability and requirement coverage. Create and maintain detailed test cases and test steps within X-ray based on business requirements. Identify, document, and track software defects in Jira; collaborate with developers to ensure timely resolution.

Develop and update basic automated test scripts using Playwright under the guidance of senior team members. Participate in requirement grooming sessions to provide feedback on testability and acceptance criteria. Prepare and update project-related testing documentation in Confluence. Verify bug fixes and perform impact analysis for regression testing.

Provide regular status updates on testing progress and defect metrics during daily stand-ups. Other duties as assigned. Compentencies Strong analytical and logical thinking skills. Qualifications

Education

Qualifications and Certifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. Previous Work Experience, including Leadership Experience 1–3 years of experience in Software Quality Assurance or a related field. Technical / Domain Specific / Functional Experience and Knowledge

• Experience in manual testing methodologies and the STLC.
• Foundational knowledge of automation tools (Playwright preferred).
• Basic proficiency in Jira and X-ray.
• Understanding of Agile/Scrum development cycles. GIA or G&J Industry Specific Experience and Knowledge Familiarity with laboratory, grading, or operational technology environments is preferred but not required. Critical Experiences (including challenges that were overcome, proven skills, demonstrated outcomes, etc.) Demonstrated ability to write clear test cases and detailed, reproducible bug reports.
