Position Summary

RSI is recruiting an Operations Engineer who will be responsible for the technical operation, maintenance, and optimization of wastewater treatment facilities and infrastructure to ensure regulatory compliance and operational efficiency. This role applies mechanical engineering principles to ensure the reliability of site operations and treatment systems through hands-on field assessment, troubleshooting, and project support.

Job Title: Wastewater Treatment Systems Engineer Location(s): Fernald, OH Status: Full-Time FLSA: Exempt Hiring Range: $65,000.00 -$75,000.00 per year. (The anticipated starting salary is based on the posted minimum requirements for this position. The offered salary will be based upon the selected applicant’s education, training, and experience.)

The position requires 50% time in the field. Travel may be required 10% of the time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform regular field inspections and technical assessments of site infrastructure, including groundwater and leachate treatment systems. Develop and maintain operational procedures. Collect, manage and report operational data. Troubleshoot and oversee repairs for mechanical components such as HVAC systems, pumps, motors, piping, valves, and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).

Monitor, troubleshoot, and support the maintenance of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and associated control logic for site treatment and infrastructure. Participate in project design reviews to provide input from a mechanical engineering and control system perspective. Interact with and oversee subcontractors and vendors.
