Assistant Gymnastics Coach

Position Title: Assistant Gymnastics Coach School: Waseca Junior/Senior High School Location: Waseca, MN Season: Winter Season Application Deadline: Until filled Position Summary Waseca Public Schools is seeking an enthusiastic, dependable, and student-centered individual to serve as an Assistant Gymnastics Coach for the Waseca Bluejays.

The successful candidate will assist with all aspects of the gymnastics program while fostering a positive, competitive, safe, and educational environment that promotes excellence in and out of the gym. The Assistant Coach is responsible for helping develop student-athletes through skill instruction, sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and character development.

The coach will work collaboratively with the head coach and other program staff, support the established vision and expectations of the program, and represent Waseca Public Schools with professionalism and integrity.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assist the head coach with the planning, organization, and supervision of the high school gymnastics program. Help develop and implement practice plans that emphasize safety, skill development, proper technique, and athlete growth. Provide instruction, encouragement, and feedback during practices, competitions, and team activities.

Learn and consistently use appropriate spotting techniques to protect the safety of student-athletes. Supervise student-athletes and help maintain a safe, organized, and productive practice environment. Foster a positive team culture built on accountability, sportsmanship, respect, teamwork, and academic success. Promote the development of student-athletes both in and out of the gym.

Collaborate with the head coach and other program staff to ensure consistency throughout the program. Build positive relationships with student-athletes, parents/guardians, school staff, officials, and the community. Assist with communication regarding team expectations, schedules, and program updates. Utilize the Bound platform for team communication, roster management, and required program information.

Ensure compliance with all Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL), Big South Conference, and Waseca Public Schools policies and regulations. Assist with equipment inventories and the proper care and storage of gymnastics equipment. Participate in coaches' meetings, professional development opportunities, and other district activities as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge of gymnastics and effective coaching techniques is preferred but not required. Willingness and ability to learn gymnastics instruction and safe spotting techniques. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate and build positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, staff, and community members.

Ability to work collaboratively with the head coach and other members of the coaching staff. Ability to successfully complete all MSHSL coaching certification requirements and district employment requirements.

Compensation
