Corporate Director of EH&S

Job Summary
The Corporate Director of Environmental Health & Safety, under the supervision of the Executive Vice President, will be responsible for leading all EHS initiatives across all TICO locations, ensuring compliance with all local, state and federal EHS related regulatory requirements. This role has the opportunity to work with all levels of the organization (from executive to front -line) to identify operational challenges and opportunities, providing recommendations and solutions that balance business objectives with appropriate EHS risk reduction.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develops and maintains relationships with employees, terminal managers, supervisors and manufacturing leaders within the organization to establish a foundation of trust and respect, required to be successful Serves on the executive leadership team identifying operational challenges and opportunities, providing recommendations and solutions that balance business objectives with EHS risk reduction, while ensuring the health and safety of employees and overall EHS regulatory compliance Champion employee engagement and development of a strong and proactive safety culture, provide regular summaries, metrics and data to leadership on leading and lagging indicators and associated KPI’s Leads enterprise safety risk management efforts, establishing systems and processes to identify, assess, prioritize, mitigate, and monitor occupational and operational risks across TICO operations and activities Collaborate and support other departments and business needs, to include insurance, workers comp and other legal matters as needed Directs safety investigations and corrective-action processes, including significant incidents, root-cause analyses, risk assessments, and near-miss investigations, ensuring systemic corrective actions are implemented and monitored for effectiveness Serve as a resource and support all levels of the organization, all employees across 12 locations in 5 states (NC,SC,GAFL,TX), to include operations on MTSA regulated waterfront facilities and manufacturing operations.
Conduct routine site visits and audits in order to ensure compliance and to support the local leadership, with the goal of setting them up for success Support and oversee DOT compliance (FMCSA), including onboarding, CMV/CDL driver qualification files, random drug and alcohol testing program, DOT incident management and reporting Oversee compliance with all application federal, state and local regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, DOT, USCG, MTSA) and serve as primary contact for all regulatory agencies, reporting, enforcement actions and resolution Provides senior leadership and oversight of safety training and organizational development programs, ensuring training strategies address regulatory requirements, operational risks, leadership expectations, and workforce competency Conduct training across all locations as needed to include emergency response, incident management, OSHA 1910/1917, environmental, hazwoper/spill response Provide EHS Leadership and accountability training, coaching and mentoring to all levels of the organization Represents TICO in industry, regulatory, governmental, and community forums related to occupational and operational safety, cultivating strategic partnerships Required Skills and Abilities: Experience in direct EHS roles in manufacturing, marine terminal environments, DOT compliance, General Industry and Maritime industry OSHA compliance, EPA regulatory compliance and associated regulatory bodies Demonstrated ability to evaluate safety programs and performance, using data and industry best practices to make strategic recommendations regarding resources, priorities, technology, training, and risk controls Ability to anticipate emerging safety, regulatory, operational, and environmental risks and develop proactive strategies to mitigate organizational exposure Ability to lead and coordinate complex, enterprise-wide projects and initiatives, effectively managing multiple priorities Demonstrated ability to work independently with a high degree of accountability, exercise sound judgment, and appropriately identify matters requiring executive-level consultation or escalation Ability to foster a culture of accountability, employee engagement, continuous improvement, and shared ownership of safety across all levels of the organization Demonstrated ability to represent TICO professionally and effectively in industry forums, regulatory meetings, public settings, and community engagements, including the development and delivery of executive-level recommendations and presentations Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, leadership, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with employees, leaders, regulators, customers, and external stakeholders Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and the ability to effectively utilize technology and data systems to support safety management and organizational decision-making Education & Experience Required Four-year college degree in Safety Engineering, Environmental Health and Safety, or related field Preferred Certified Safety Professional, Associate Safety Professional credentials are highly preferred 8-10 years industry experience with demonstratable business results and growth in the areas of employee safety and monitored regulatory metrics.
