Position: Full-time (40 hours per week), non-exempt. Typical hours include afternoon This position is supervised by a Residential Manager or Residential Assistant Director.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the Residential Manager or Assistant Director with the day-to-day operation, coordination, and oversight of residential services and programs. Support the development and implementation of Individual Habilitation Plan (IHP), household routines, and resident-centered activities. Ensure accurate records are kept, as required by the Licensing Agency, i.
e., medical, financial, identification, and IHP, and assist in the development of monthly reports as assigned. Provide guidance, direction, and day-to-day support to residential staff; assist with training, onboarding, scheduling, and coverage as needed. Monitor staffing levels, shift assignments, attendance, and service coverage, and communicate scheduling concerns to the Residential Manager.
Assist with medication-management procedures, medication administration, medical appointments, health and safety practices, emergency response, and coordination with medical or other service providers, as applicable. Conduct or assist with routine inspections of the residence to promote cleanliness, maintenance, accessibility, security, and compliance with health and safety requirements.
Respond to resident concerns, conflicts, emergencies, and significant changes in condition, escalating matters to the appropriate member of Residential Management or professional when necessary. Promote residents’ independence, dignity, choice, privacy, rights, and participation in community and household activities. Communicate regularly with residents, families, guardians, or authorized representatives, staff members, providers, and organizational leadership while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
Assist with purchasing, inventory, household supplies, transportation coordination, and other operational needs within established procedures and budgets. Participate in staff meetings, care or service-plan meetings, quality-improvement activities, audits, and regulatory or licensing reviews. Support the investigation, documentation, and follow-up of incidents, complaints, grievances, and safety concerns in accordance with organizational policy.
Serve as the acting residential supervisor when the Residential Manager is unavailable and perform other related duties as assigned. Help ensure that residents receive safe, respectful, responsive, and consistent support in accordance with applicable policies, regulations, and service standards. Safely transport consumers to necessary appointments or activities included in the IHP.
Ensure that all log entries are complete and accurate. Maintains and obtains all records/documents required by the Licensing Agency for all consumers i.e., house menus, work orders, staff schedules, activity schedules, consumer attendance, surplus food inventory etc. Ensure all work is accomplished by staff as assigned Maintain a positive attitude and role model for staff and residents.
Demonstrates professional competence in assisting with the hiring and training of program staff as needed and required by Agency / Residential Policies & Procedures Demonstrate leadership qualities, organizational capabilities, and ability to transmit information as directed by the Residential Leadership Primary department, work location and schedule may vary.
Maintain confidentiality. Comply with the DDD Program Manual, The Arc Gloucester Policies and Procedures Manual and applicable state, local and federal regulations, including any COVID-19 vaccination mandates & policies. Must cooperate and participate in reviews, investigations, and inspections, including but not limited to with the licensee and Department of Human Services staff in any inspection, inquiry or investigation.
Occasional management responsibilities, including assisting with training, planning, workflow, and problem solving. Additional responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent, and must be 18 years of age or older. A minimum of 1+ years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities required for management/supervisor positions, with 2+ years preferred. Must have a current, non-probationary driver’s license with 5 points or less, and deemed acceptable to drive by The Arc Gloucester’s liability insurance company, valid in the state of New Jersey.
Proficient in basic computer, math, reading comprehension and verbal and written communication skills. Successfully pass initial and ongoing Federal & State Criminal Background checks, Fingerprinting, Central Registry, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), Child Abuse Record Information (CARI), Health Screenings, Employment Verifications & References & Drug testing/ All employees must submit to a criminal background check, and be determined to be not disqualified by the Department of Human Services prior to working with individuals served, agree to have their name checked against the Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities, shall complete an application to have their name checked against the Child Abuse Registry Information (CARI), shall submit to drug testing conducted randomly and for cause.
all employees hired after 6/15/18 shall submit to drug testing prior to employment. Certified in CPR/First Aid Successfully complete and demonstrate proficiency in all areas of required training. Physical Requirements : While performing the essential functions of this position, the following are required, with or without reasonable accommodation: Ability to sit, drive, stand and walk for extended periods of time.
Ability to operate a computers, phone and other relevant technology. Talk, hear and communicate in person, over the phone and using other technologies. Physical duties, including but not limited to carrying, driving, general lifting (at least 50 lbs, occasionally up to 100 lbs.), assisting with transferring and lifting of individuals, pushing and pulling (resistance of at least 25 lbs.)
