Description The Lynchburg Humane Society is looking for a Shelter Health Manager to lead our Medical Department and help keep the animals in our care healthy, safe, and moving toward their next chapter.This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys both medicine and managing people. You’ll supervise and develop medical staff, manage daily workflow and inventory, work closely with veterinarians, and provide hands-on patient care.

What You’ll Do Lead, train, supervise, and support the Medical Department team Manage schedules, workflow, supplies, medications, and inventory Provide hands-on patient care and support veterinary treatment plans Monitor shelter animal health, vaccinations, disease control, and medical records Work with veterinarians, foster, adoption, behavior, pet care, and animal control teams Maintain medical protocols, equipment, and regulatory compliance Help create a positive, organized, and supportive work environment What We’re Looking For Veterinary or shelter medicine experience Experience managing staff and daily operations Strong veterinary technical skills, including medication administration, surgical prep/recovery, triage, blood draws, wound care, and emergency response Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills Experience with fear-free/low-stress handling Ability to work in a busy, fast-changing environment Commitment to LHS’s lifesaving mission Full-time | Lynchburg, VA If you’re a veterinary professional who loves animals, enjoys leading people, and wants to be part of a team that is constantly working to save more lives, we’d love to hear from you.
