Job description
Job Description: Hospice Registered Nurse (RN) | Bringing Comfort, Compassion & Peace Wellspring Lutheran Services – Hospice | Full-time | Salaried $81,120 - $89,440 You chose nursing because you wanted to care for people when they needed it most. You understand that healing doesn't always mean curing. Sometimes it means relieving pain.
Offering comfort. Supporting a family through uncertainty. Listening when words are difficult to find. Being a steady, compassionate presence during one of life's most sacred transitions. Hospice nursing is different. It calls for clinical expertise, but it also calls for empathy, patience, and the ability to meet people where they are.
It requires someone who can care for the whole person while supporting the family members walking alongside them. At Wellspring, we're looking for a Hospice Registered Nurse who is passionate about helping patients live with comfort, dignity, and peace while supporting the people who love them. As a Hospice RN , you'll provide nursing care to patients wherever they call home while serving as an advocate, educator, care coordinator, and trusted source of support.
You'll help patients manage symptoms, maintain comfort, and experience the highest possible quality of life while helping families feel informed, prepared, and supported throughout their journey. Most importantly, you'll help ensure no one walks this journey alone. What Your Impact Will Look Like You'll build meaningful relationships with patients and families during a deeply personal stage of life.
You'll assess changing needs, develop individualized plans of care, and provide skilled nursing interventions that focus on comfort, symptom management, and quality of life. You'll help patients remain as comfortable and independent as possible while honoring their goals, wishes, and values. You'll serve as an educator and guide, helping families understand what to expect, navigate difficult decisions, and feel more confident in providing care and support.
You'll collaborate with physicians, hospice aides, social workers, chaplains, bereavement professionals, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure holistic, coordinated care. You'll advocate for patients and families while helping ensure their physical, emotional, spiritual, and psychosocial needs are addressed with compassion and respect.
Some days you'll provide symptom management and medication education. Other days you'll support a worried family member, coordinate services, collaborate with the care team, or simply sit beside a patient and offer comfort through your presence. Every day, you'll make a difference in ways that families often remember for the rest of their lives.
Why This Role Matters Hospice care is about living well, even during life's final chapter. Patients and families deserve care that prioritizes comfort, dignity, choice, and quality of life. They deserve professionals who can provide exceptional clinical care while also offering compassion, reassurance, and hope. As a Hospice RN, you'll help families navigate an incredibly important journey with confidence and support.
You'll help reduce fear, manage symptoms, and create opportunities for meaningful moments when they matter most. The impact of your work extends far beyond clinical care. It becomes part of a family's story. The Nurse We're Looking For
- You are passionate about compassionate, person-centered care.
- You value quality of life as much as clinical excellence.
- You are comfortable building trusting relationships with patients and families.
- You lead with empathy, grace, and professionalism.
- You are confident working independently while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team.
- You believe every individual deserves dignity, comfort, and respect.
- You find purpose in helping others through difficult transitions.
What You'll Bring

- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Two years of nursing experience preferred.
- Hospice, home health, medical-surgical, critical care, or related experience preferred.
- Strong assessment, communication, case management, and clinical documentation skills.
