Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Scaler is responsible for measuring and assessing the quality and quantity of logs for the processing of payment and inventory.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Comprehend and perform all duties in accordance with rules, regulations and JSAs. Follow safety protocols and report hazards to ensure a safe work environment. Accurately measure logs, assess quality and grade following state board scaling criteria and company standards Maintain accurate records of measurements and assessments.

Communicate quality defects to supervisor and resource team Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Participate in inventory management and reporting activities. Provide training and guidance to junior scaling personnel as needed. Duties may vary by location REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Idaho Log Scaling Certificate required.

Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail. Familiarity with scaling equipment and measurement techniques. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test, post-offer pre-employment physical, and background check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

HS Diploma or equivalent Previous experience in log scaling, Logyard operation or forestry PHYSICAL DEMANDS- Production Ability to sit and/or stand for shift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distance, and climb stairs. Bend at waist – frequent Twist upper body – frequent Stoop – occasional Lift above waist height – frequent depending on machine center Lift over 50 lbs.
