Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled, safety-minded Fleet Service Technician Level C for our shop located in Lancaster , NY with pay up to $30/hour . Our clean, 6s shop has 3 bays, and we service a fleet of 41 CNG trucks, no trailers. As a Fleet Service Technician , you will perform the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of our commercial vehicle fleet.
You will handle intermediate to advanced mechanical repairs, routine diagnostics, and preventative maintenance. This position is ideal for an experienced technician looking to grow their career in a supportive, safety-first environment that values technical quality and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive Preventative Maintenance (PM) inspections and Department of Transportation (DOT) safety inspections to ensure all fleet assets strictly adhere to state and federal regulations. Diagnostics & Repair: Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on medium- to heavy-duty commercial vehicles and diesel engines; execute light-duty vehicle maintenance and material handling equipment (MHE) maintenance as required by site fleet configurations.
Software Proficiency: Utilize state-of-the-art diagnostic software (e.g., Cummins Insite, Cojali Jaltest, Noregon, Diesel Laptops) to read data, clear faults, run regens, etc. Compliance & Inspections: Conduct comprehensive Preventative Maintenance (PM) inspections and Department of Transportation (DOT) safety inspections to ensure all fleet assets strictly adhere to state and federal regulations.
Client Communication: Effectively listen and communicate directly with our partner clients regarding vehicle repair needs and status updates. Safety & Standards: Maintain a clean, organized shop environment in strict compliance with OSHA standards and Vehicare safety protocols.
Requirements
Minimum of 1-2 years of professional experience working as a heavy/light duty commercial vehicle or diesel fleet technician. Technical Savvy: Solid working knowledge of air brake systems, electrical circuits, commercial chassis components, commercial trailers, and liftgates. Familiarity with light-duty passenger vehicles or forklift/MHE systems is a plus.
Certifications: Active progress toward ASE Medium-Heavy Truck Certifications (T1–T8) is highly preferred. A current DOT Inspector certification is preferred (we will provide the training to obtain it). Licensing: A valid driver's license is required, alongside the ability to pass DOT physical requirements; a Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is a strong plus.
