Job description
Summary: Assists a variety of dentists using four handed dentistry. Procedures include general, surgical, Endodontic, Pediatric, Periodontal, and Prosthodontic.
Responsibilities
- Assists residents and attendings with all aspects of Dental Assisting. Including preparing cases for lab shipment.
- Demonstrates ability to take all type of radiographs including Panorex and CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) using Dexis and Dentrix software. Charts exams and treatment plans according to the dentists' instructions in Dentrix.
- Greets and seats patients cordially. Verifies with patient that all information is correct and up to date, updating any changes in patient chart.
- Follows all protocols and procedures for proper sterilization of dental instruments.
- Adheres to universal precaution policies. Always wears established protective gear when working. Thoroughly washes hands regularly throughout shift regardless of work assignment. Act appropriately in regard to radiation, health and safety protocols.
- Remains competent with operation of all department equipment and constantly follows safety standards and guidelines established within the department. Notifies lead assistant immediately of any equipment malfunction. Consistently notifies lead assistant when supplies are needed.
- Strong reliable work ethic, team player and good communication skills.
- Actively participates in department performance improvements and meetings.
- Maintains and models the organization's values.
- Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance.
- Performs other duties as required.
Education
Radiation Health and Safety Certificate Experience in all areas not necessary: Willing to train. Other Information: Working Conditions: Manual: Some manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity Occupational: Some occupational risk Physical Effort: Medium to Heavy effort. May exert up to 35 lbs. force Physical Environment: Significant exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
