Communications Coordinator

Position Title: Communications Coordinator Reports To: Executive Director and works collaboratively with contracted communications and marketing professionals. Work Location: Main Office 643 W. Crosstown Parkway Kalamazoo, MI 49008 Status: Non-Exempt, hourly Schedule: Part-Time / 20 hours per week Pay Rate: $22.00 hour Position Summary: Position is responsible for assisting in the enhancement of the agency's communications and marketing activities with the intent of raising the agency’s visibility and cultivating information about programs and services, donations and support.

Communications and marketing intern is also responsible for assisting in the broadening of the organization's reach via social media.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assisting in the implementation of agency communications plan. Agency-wide branding activities. Assisting with the management of agency web site and electronic newsletter. Creation of documents and other resources utilized for general outreach (e.g.,brochures, flyers, exhibit displays, etc.) Assisting with the enhancement of agency social media activities including the drafting and uploading content as appropriate, and evaluating reach andengagement.

Represent the agency at resource and outreach events and activities. Other activities as assigned.

Qualifications

1-3 years of relevant experience or education in communications, marketing or related field. Self-starter. General knowledge of and understanding of branding principles. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to organize activities and prioritize assignments. Ability to use sound judgment. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Experience with general office operation helpful. Desire and ability to work collaboratively with others. Ability to work independently. Desire to make a difference in the human service sector.
