Ready Mix Concrete Testing Technician (Quality Assurance) Job description: Port City Concrete is a well-established and growing company in Charleston and greater Charleston. Our team comprises several Quality Assurance Technicians and is outfitted with a fully functioning laboratory. This position will come with a company vehicle, phone, and fuel card.

All necessary devices and training will be provided.

Responsibilities

Perform quality checks on incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products using precision measuring instruments. Collect and analyze data to identify trends or deviations from quality standards. Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with product specifications and industry regulations. Document inspection results and maintain accurate records of quality control activities.

Collaborate with production teams to address quality issues and implement corrective actions. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and efficiency. Skills: Proficient in using slump cone, roll-a-meter, and other ASTM instruments. Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately interpret technical specifications.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of quality control principles and practices. Familiarity with data collection and analysis techniques. Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams. Physical Demands of the Job: Lifting & Handling: Frequently lifting, carrying, or moving heavy weights ranging from 10 to 75 lbs (such as concrete test cylinders, heavy sampling tools, and aggregate bags).

Mobility & Posture: Regular standing, walking on uneven job sites, climbing ladders, scaling multi-floor scaffolding, crawling, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, and reaching. Manual Dexterity: Using hands and fingers to handle testing apparatus, fill and tamp slump cones, record data, and operate computer keyboards or mobile devices.

Environmental Exposure: Working primarily outdoors in varied and extreme weather conditions (high heat, humidity, cold, or wet job sites) alongside moving heavy machinery and transit mixer trucks. Vision & Sensory: Maintaining close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception to accurately evaluate concrete finish, aggregate grading, and test results.
