Description Schedule: Full-Time / 36 hours Shift: Days / 8a-5p FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Pay Range $16.48 to $25.76 per hour The compensation range listed above represents the good-faith range Cary Medical Center anticipates relying upon when making an offer for this position. Starting pay is determined based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, education, certifications, internal equity, and market conditions.

Job Summary

Cary Medical Center Pharmacy is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team. Pharmacy Technicians play an important role in providing safe, efficient, and high-quality medication services to our patients while supporting pharmacists and the overall pharmacy team. Pharmacy Technicians assist pharmacists with preparing and distributing medications, maintaining medication inventory, compounding and mixing IV medications, and performing other related duties as assigned.

Technicians are expected to demonstrate strong attention to detail, maintain patient confidentiality, follow all applicable policies and procedures, and comply with local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Essential Job Duties: Ability to perform work accurately with attention to detail within specified time period. Ability to work cooperatively with organization and pharmacy staff. Ability to handle frequent interruption and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule.

Ability to set priorities and solve problems. Ability to respond quickly to emergency requests. Ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing). Ability to assist in meeting the pharmaceutical care needs if neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Assigned order-entry functions (e.g. parenteral nutrition, Chemotherapy preparations (not required under the age of 18), etc.)

are performed accurately and in a timely fashion. Accurately selects medication for dispensing or restock, rechecks orders, and/or accurately checks dispensing done by pharmacist and technicians. Accurately restocks and/or checks OrnniCell and floor stock medications. Accurately performs mathematical calculations as necessary and/or accurately checks calculations performed by others, and notifies pharmacist of any inconsistencies.

Labels patient-specific and in-house repackaged medications in a neat and accurate manner including notification of calculated doses and appropriate warning/caution labels. Reports instances of questionable practice by clinicians, nurses, or pharmacy staff to the charge pharmacist or director of pharmacy. Regularly attends and actively participates in department staff meetings.

Answers telephone, receiving and relaying accurate messages as needed. When requested, assists in training new department personnel. When requested, run work-related errands outside of the hospital. Willingly accepts new projects and assignments. Complies with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. College courses desirable but not required. Active pharmacy technician license awarded by the State of Maine. 2-3 years of pharmacy technician experience is preferred but not required. Availability: Depending on department staffing needs, you may be asked to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
