Skillforce has teamed up with a leading commercial roofing company to find a skilled Sheet Metal Fabrication Assistant This is a full-time, direct hire position based out of Capitol Heights, MD. We are looking for a dependable Sheet Metal Fabrication Assistant to support the fabrication of sheet metal components for commercial construction projects.

This position is ideal for someone with hands-on fabrication experience who is comfortable working with measurements, machinery, and technical drawings. The right candidate will be detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and able to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team. Operate equipment such as hydraulic shears, folding machines, notchers, punches, and Iron Worker machinery. Read and interpret shop drawings, layouts, measurements, and specifications. Inspect completed pieces to ensure accuracy, quality, and proper fit. Track fabrication progress and communicate workload or scheduling needs with the production team.

Maintain organized records and documentation related to fabrication work. Troubleshoot fabrication issues and work with supervisors and coworkers to resolve problems. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Follow all company and jobsite safety procedures. Sheet Metal Fabrication Assistant Qualifications Previous experience in sheet metal fabrication, metalworking, or a related trade preferred.

Comfortable using fabrication machinery and hand tools. Strong understanding of measurements, layouts, and basic fabrication techniques. Ability to read and understand technical drawings or shop plans. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Good problem-solving and communication skills. Able to manage multiple tasks in a production-oriented environment.
