Cook- Assistant Living

POSITION DESCRIPTION Position Title: Cook, Assistant Living Reports to: Dining Services Supervisor/Executive Chef Position Details: Full Time 6:00am- 3:00pm 5 days per week, including every other weekend and every other holiday.

Qualifications

Experienced as a cook in health care desirable, preferably long-term care. Completion of food service sanitation course or in-services desirable. Ability to follow oral and written directions.

Essential Functions

Handle and prepare food. Prepare food, which is palatable and appetizing in appearance. Follow oral and written directions. Follow written menus and recipes. Understand therapeutic diets. Prepare food items in accordance with therapeutic diets. Responsible for avoiding food waste. Assume responsibility for meeting meal schedules.

Responsible for use and care of food service equipment. Work cooperatively with food service staff and other departments. Attend in-service training programs for Dining Services staff members. Observe infection control procedures. Observe all facility safety policies and procedures. Maintain required records for substitutes, food temperatures, and cooler temperatures.

Relate to residents, families and other staff in a friendly, courteous and helpful manner. Come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality. Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner. Assume accountability for data contained in the Staff Handbook. Assume responsibility of supervisor when Dining Services Supervisor and Director are not present.

Perform simple arithmetic and units of measurement conversions used in food preparation. Understand and comply with the Corporate Compliance Program.
