Staff Attorney

STAFF ATTORNEY Las Americas Immigrant Advocacy Center El Paso, TX Las Americas Immigrant Advocacy Center is hiring a Staff Attorney to champion justice for immigrants by bridging sophisticated litigation with human-centered advocacy. Las Americas is a nationally recognized organization that provides high-quality legal services, advocacy, and support to detained and non-detained individuals in El Paso, Texas, and southern New Mexico.

Since 1987, we have represented over 50,000 individuals while advocating for systemic change through impact litigation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage a caseload of clients seeking relief before USCIS, the Immigration Court, and the BIA including preparing applications, motions, and briefs; advocating directly with ICE; and preparing and representing clients in interviews and hearings.

REQUIREMENTS

Juris Doctorate (JD) with active membership in good standing of any state bar or plans to take an upcoming bar exam. Experience: 0 to 3 years of legal experience; immigration law or removal defense experience preferred. Strong candidates from other litigation backgrounds, as well as recent law graduates, are encouraged to apply.

Skills and Values: Strong communication, organizational, and case management skills under pressure; deep commitment to social justice and immigrant rights. Language: Professional fluency in English and Spanish is required. Location: Must work locally out of the El Paso, TX office. SALARY AND BENEFITS $60,000 to $68,000, commensurate with experience; health insurance with employer contributions; flexible/hybrid schedule; and generous PTO.
