Security Engineer

The Security Engineer supports the protection of OIST’s information assets, systems, and research environment, enabling secure and reliable research, education, and institutional operations. Working as part of the information security team, the role contributes to daytoday security operations, including monitoring, incident response support, and the operation of security controls.

Depending on experience, responsibilities are carried out independently or under guidance from senior staff, with opportunities to develop practical information security skills aligned with international standards such as ISO/IEC 27001 and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework. Reporting to the Information Security Manager, the Security Engineer supports the ongoing delivery and improvement of OIST’s information security program.
