Accounting Internship - Summer 2027

Headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, Wabash Valley Power is a not-for-profit electric cooperative and wholesale provider of reliable, affordable electricity to our 21 electric distribution member cooperatives. Objective: The Accounting Intern will provide hands-on support to the accounting department by assisting with routine accounting functions and special projects. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who is pursuing a degree in accounting or finance and is interested in gaining practical experience in a professional accounting environment.

Essential Duties

& Responsibilities: Assist with the preparation and posting of monthly journal entries under the supervision of accounting staff Support the completion of account reconciliations, including researching and resolving variances Assist with budget preparation and analysis, including compiling data and supporting schedules Help maintain accurate accounting records and documentation in accordance with company policies Participate in month-end close activities and other ad hoc accounting projects as assigned Collaborate with team members to ensure deadlines are met and information is accurate and complete Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures What You’ll Gain: Practical experience with real-world accounting processes Exposure to monthly close, reconciliations, and budgeting activities Opportunity to work closely with experienced accounting professionals Development of technical and professional skills relevant to an accounting career Education/Experience Requirements: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with completion of foundational accounting courses at a minimum.

Completion of intermediate and/or advanced accounting courses preferred. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Basic understanding of accounting principles (coursework-level knowledge acceptable) Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Teams and Outlook; experience with accounting systems is a plus Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks Effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a professional environment Wabash Valley Power Alliance reserves the right to request official or unofficial transcripts as part of the selection process to verify educational qualifications, coursework, academic standing, and/or eligibility for the internship.

This is a paid summer internship opportunity located in Indianapolis, Indiana. Please note that housing or a housing stipend is not provided.
