Personal Injury Litigation Paralegal

Rutter Mills LLP, a leading personal injury law firm in Hampton Roads, is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to support our trial attorneys throughout the litigation process. This remote position offers the opportunity to play a meaningful role in personal injury cases while collaborating with a respected team of legal professionals.

Schedule : Full-time Monday through Friday Location: Remote About the Role: As a Litigation Paralegal at Rutter Mills, you will work closely with attorneys, clients, and medical providers to manage personal injury cases from litigation through resolution, including trial, settlement, and escrow. This position requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage deadlines independently while maintaining consistent communication with your team.

The ideal candidate has experience with Virginia personal injury litigation, is comfortable working in a digital environment, and can manage a busy caseload remotely. Draft, prepare, and file pleadings, motions, and discovery requests and responses. Manage case files, litigation calendars, and critical deadlines, including statutes of limitations.

Review medical records and billing documentation, manage medical liens, and negotiate lien reductions as part of the case resolution process. Coordinate depositions, mediations, settlements, and related case documentation. Support trial preparation, including exhibits, witness coordination, and courtroom logistics. Communicate professionally with clients, courts, medical providers, and opposing counsel.

Ensure compliance with Virginia court rules, civil procedure, and e-filing requirements. 3+ years of personal injury litigation experience. General District Court and Circuit Court experience required. Strong working knowledge of Virginia court rules, civil procedure, and e-filing systems. Proven ability to manage caseloads with accuracy and organization.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience drafting legal documents, maintaining litigation files, and resolving or negotiating medical liens. Proficiency with case management systems, Smart. Advocate preferred. Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and collaborate effectively with attorney and team members in a remote environment.
