Elementary Instructional Assistant

Eastern Greene Elementary School is seeking a compassionate and dependable Instructional Assistant to support teaching and learning in K–4 classrooms. This part-time role works closely with the classroom teacher to help meet the academic, behavioral, and developmental needs of students. The ideal candidate enjoys working with young children, communicates well with staff and families, and maintains a calm, structured presence throughout the school day.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent required Preferred: 1–2 years of experience working with young children in school or care settings Ability to follow teacher direction and work as part of a team Strong interpersonal and communication skills Patience, compassion, and ability to maintain a safe and supportive environment Ability to lift, move, and actively assist students when needed Job Goals Support the teacher in delivering instruction and supervising students Contribute to a safe, organized, and nurturing classroom environment Promote student independence and engagement through individual and small-group support Assist in managing daily classroom routines and behavior Expectations Assist with academic activities under the direction of the classroom teacher Help manage classroom behavior to ensure a safe and productive learning environment Provide supervision during lunch, recess, transitions, and other non-classroom times Take over classroom duties temporarily when the teacher is unavailable (e.
