Senior Estimator

Shape the Future of Major Construction Projects At Carey Group, we're looking for an experienced and commercially astute Senior Estimator to join our growing Work Winning Team. This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in securing some of the UK's most complex and high-profile construction projects. As a trusted member of the pre-construction team, you'll lead the development of winning tender strategies, influence key business decisions, and work closely with operational leaders to drive sustainable growth across the region.

Reporting to the Managing Estimator, you will take a leading role in the preparation and delivery of competitive, robust and commercially sound estimates.

You'll provide expertise throughout the bid process, identifying opportunities, managing risk and helping shape winning solutions for our clients.

Key responsibilities include

Leading the preparation of detailed estimates and cost plans from first principles Developing tender strategies that balance competitiveness with commercial certainty Identifying project risks, opportunities and value engineering solutions Managing and challenging supply chain pricing and assumptions Reviewing tender documentation, specifications, drawings and programmes Producing high-quality tender submissions and adjudication reports Supporting and influencing tender settlement and negotiation processes Building strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal stakeholders Contributing to continuous improvement and the development of estimating best practice across the business Supporting the mentoring and development of less experienced team members where appropriate You'll be an experienced estimator with a track record of delivering successful bids within construction, civil engineering or infrastructure environments.

Significant estimating experience across areas such as groundworks, earthworks, drainage, highways, substructures, paving or reinforced concrete structures Strong commercial awareness and an ability to understand project drivers and client priorities Experience developing estimates from first principles and managing complex tender submissions Excellent understanding of measurement methods and industry best practice Experience using tools such as Bluebeam, ACC Take Off or similar estimating platforms Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills A collaborative leadership style with the confidence to challenge, advise and guide project teams.

A degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or Construction Management would be advantageous, although equivalent industry experience is equally valued. 26 days holiday plus bank holidays Private Healthcare Car Allowance Company Pension Volunteering Days
