Senior SQL Server Database Developer

We are looking for a Senior SQL Server Database Developer for our customer in Vienna, Austria, with strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, query optimization and database performance tuning. You will develop, maintain and optimize SQL Server databases, improve query performance, manage database operations and troubleshoot complex database-related issues.

Vienna, Austria – Contractor – Relocation required for non-local candidates – Fluent English EU candidates are welcome to apply. Candidates must be based in Vienna or willing to relocate. Work permit sponsorship is not provided. Tasks and Responsibilities Develop, optimize and troubleshoot complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions and views; Analyze execution plans and implement query tuning and indexing strategies to improve database performance; Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks using SQL Server Profiler, Extended Events and other diagnostic techniques; Troubleshoot deadlocks, blocking and concurrency issues to ensure database reliability; Develop and maintain data transformation and ETL processes; Manage database backups, security permissions, user roles and database integrity; Automate routine database maintenance, including index rebuilding, statistics updates, integrity checks and scheduled jobs; Support application teams and clients with database troubleshooting, root cause analysis and database architecture improvements.

Profile Bachelor's or Master's degree; 5+ years of experience in systems analysis, development and programming using Microsoft SQL Server; 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in the design, development, implementation and maintenance of information systems; Strong knowledge of SQL query optimization, stored procedures, functions, views and database performance tuning; Experience with SQL Server execution plans, indexing strategies, SQL Server Profiler and Extended Events; Knowledge of database troubleshooting, including deadlocks, blocking, concurrency and application performance issues; Experience with ETL processes, database backups, maintenance automation and scheduled jobs; Understanding of database security, permissions, user roles, consistency and integrity; Experience with Agile development methodologies and associated development practices; Experience with Microsoft TFS or Azure DevOps would be an advantage.
