JOB TITLE: MS EDUCATIONAL AIDE PLP (Personal Learning Plan) REPORTS TO: PRINCIPAL SUPERVISES: N/A FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT SALARY RANGE : $18.00-21.69 HOURLY WORK DAYS: 182 DAYS SCHEDULE: MONDAY-FRIDAY 7:45AM-4:15PM LOCATION: GATEWAY COLLEGE PREPARATORY SCHOOL

  • GEORGTOWN TX POSITION SUMMARY: Implement the district PLP curriculum and expectations to help all middle school students incorporate the grade-level specific skills that will increase their performance and success as a student in rigorous middle school courses.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Check student grades in all courses one time each week and meet with students who are failing or missing assignments Monitor agenda completion during classroom time Implement organizational and goal-setting strategies each week with students Implement district PLP curriculum and expectations Monitor students during independent work time Monitor student weekly progress on accelerated learning Complete AVID assessments three times a year Coordinate with school counselor for monthly lessons during PLP time Maintain weekly PLP content on Canvas Assign a weekly PLP grade based on established criteria Coordinate with instructional support staff for dyslexia, special education, and MTSS services and interventions Build relationships and be a positive role model for students Implement a college-going culture in the classroom Attend grade-level team meetings and implement grade-level expectations Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and handbook Attend district AVID and PLP training Implement AVID strategies during PLP and serve as a tutor for AVID elective classes, as assigned Assist in monitoring students and creating a safe campus environment by reporting to duty, as assigned by campus administrator Compile, maintain, and submit reports, records and other documents, as required Promotes and contributes to campus-wide initiatives, including AVID Protects confidentiality of students and their families.

Support the mission and vision of the campus and district Adheres to policies and procedures of the campus and district Comply with policies established by federal and state law, including but not limited to State Board of Education and local Board policy Perform other job-related duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES REQUIRED: REQUIREMENTS : Paraprofessionals must have a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent and meet one of the following requirements: Complete at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (defined as completion of 48 semester hours or equivalent trimester hours) of college coursework or an applicable number of semester hours as defined by the institution of higher education attended, whichever is less; Possess an associate (or higher) degree; or Meet a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate, through a local academic assessment� Knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics; or Knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate.

(Paraprofessional Academy through Education Service Center) Passed a rigorous state or local assessment demonstrating knowledge of and the ability to assist in; instructing reading, writing and math. Experience: Previous experience with children in a professional educational setting WORKING CONDITIONS: Duties involve walking, sitting, standing, in-door, and out-of-door activities and some lifting.

Must have and maintain a level of general physical/emotional health which permits effective performance of duties. R egularly lifts and carries 1 - 25 pounds. Required high level of mental alertness and requires ability to tolerate high levels of stress.
