Specializing in advanced acute care medicine, our Midtown location boasts a Level 1 trauma center and comprehensive stroke center, the region’s only EMCO program, and a Level III NICU. Our medical staff includes more than 500 physicians and a full complement of subspecialty groups.

Responsibilities

The CSFA functions under the direction of the surgeon during the intraoperative phase of the perioperative experience to provide a safe, efficient, and supportive environment for the surgical patient. Exercises critical thinking skills in all aspects of the FA role. Establishes and maintains a safe operative environment.

Provides technical first assistance to the primary surgeon in the operating room. Partners with the physician to enhance the effectiveness of patient care. Actively contributes to a clean, safe, positive, and professional work and patient care environment. Maintain skills and knowledge through training and continuing education to provide expected standards of care.

Act as a resource and role model for staff and students. Adheres to departmental policies and procedures while carrying out duties and responsibilities as identified. Other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program. Successful completion of an approved FA course. Proficient in scrubbing all specialties with a minimum of 3 years of experience. Current C ertification in Surgical Technology. Current C ertification as a First Assistant. BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
