Surgical Medical Assistant – Front & Back Office Location: Payson, AZ | Initial Training: Mesa, AZ Job Description Excited about advancing your career? Western Vascular Institute is looking for a motivated, dependable, and enthusiastic Surgical Medical Assistant to join our team at our Payson, AZ clinic! This is a dual-role position that includes both Front Office and Back Office responsibilities, providing an opportunity to develop a well-rounded skill set in both patient care and medical office operations.

We offer hands-on training in surgical assisting and scrubbing for Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) procedures. Location & Training Requirements Your primary work location will be our Payson, AZ clinic.

However, initial training will be required at our Mesa, AZ clinic to ensure you are fully prepared for both the clinical and administrative responsibilities of the position. Travel for required training in Mesa will be paid/reimbursed by the company in accordance with company policy. The ideal candidate is confident, assertive, organized, and comfortable balancing multiple responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Back Office / Clinical Responsibilities Assist physicians during surgical procedures, including Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) Perform surgical assisting and scrubbing duties following training Assist with wound care and dressing changes Room patients, obtain vital signs, and prepare patients for examinations and procedures Assist physicians during medical examinations and treatments Perform and assist with physiological studies Accurately document patient information and clinical encounters in the EMR Prepare, clean, and maintain treatment rooms, medical instruments, and equipment Follow proper sterilization procedures and infection control protocols Assist with clinical decision-making and patient care coordination within the scope of the role Handle patient phone calls and assist with clinical triage under appropriate clinical supervision Front Office / Administrative Responsibilities Greet patients and provide a welcoming, professional experience Assist with patient check-in and check-out Schedule appointments, procedures, and follow-up visits Verify and update patient demographics and insurance information Coordinate outside testing, referrals, and medical records requests Answer incoming calls and assist patients with questions and scheduling needs Maintain accurate patient records and documentation Prepare and distribute correspondence, forms, faxes, and other administrative documents Communicate effectively with physicians, clinical staff, and administrative team members Support daily clinic operations and assist wherever needed to ensure efficient patient flow Skills & Qualifications Required: Minimum 1 year of Back Office Medical Assistant experience Willingness to learn and perform both Front Office and Back Office responsibilities Surgical assisting experience is a plus, but training will be provided Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills Confident, professional, and comfortable working independently when appropriate Strong patient service skills with a friendly and compassionate attitude Ability to work effectively with multiple physicians and team members Knowledge of medical office systems, procedures, and patient care workflows Experience with Next.

Gen, Centricity, FIVOS (Medstreaming), or other EMR systems preferred Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a huge plus!
