• Mount Pleasant, TN, Salary Range: Undisclosed, A general mechanic's job is to perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, repair, and installation work on vehicles, machinery, and equipment. Their responsibilities include: Test driving: Checking repairs by driving the vehicle Updating records: Keeping accurate records of work performed Maintaining equipment: Cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting tools and machinery Following safety guidelines: Abiding by safety policies and procedures Communicating with clients: Explaining problems and repairs to clients Diagnosing problems: Using computerized diagnostic equipment and other tools to identify issues with vehicles Repairing and replacing parts: Fixing worn parts like brake pads, wheel bearings, and sensors Performing maintenance: Changing oil, rotating tires, checking fluid levels, and other basic maintenance tasks Preparing estimates: Creating cost and time estimates for repairs Qualifications: Mechanics typically work in garages and should have good communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and physical strength and stamina. They should also have a high school diploma or GED, and certification from a vocational school or apprenticeship is a plus.
