Orleans Niagara BOCES Skills USA Lead Advisor-NCTEC Sanborn, New York The SkillsUSA Lead Advisor has an important role facilitating student learning. The advisor supports the chapter, but also allows the students to take the lead or actively participate in organizational activities whenever possible. Duties: The Lead Advisor for SkillsUSA includes the following responsibilities: Serve as liaison between the CTE center and the Area I, New York State, and National levels of the Skills USA organization Serve as the single site representative for dissemination of information from Area 1, New York State, and National levels of the Skills USA organization to BOCES CTE advisors Supervise collection, disbursement and accounting of money at each site Coordinate and schedule activities Schedule meetings Serve as a resource person Maintain inventory controls Supervise and chaperone activities Supervise election of officers Supervise fundraising activities Supervise transportation arrangements and activities performed throughout the school year Submit quarterly activity report to CTE Director, District Superintendent, and Board of Education Organize and run building advisor meetings, plus oversee smaller advisor committees for events such as fundraising, community service, competition, etc.

Organize SkillsUSA elections of student officers for both A.M. and P.M. sessions Train the SkillsUSA officers in basic leadership skills after their successful election Assist students to plan and conduct chapter meetings, develop a calendar of activities, and carry out those plans Prepare monthly status reports to the Director of CTE when requested Prepare and organize Skills presentation for component school districts, civic and parent groups and the Orleans/Niagara BOCES Board of Education upon request Organize Regional, State, and National competition trips which will include: arranging for travel supervision of students timely submission of all requests for prior approval submission of conference requests in a timely fashion submission of follow up reports to CTE administration collection and security of funding Complete a self-evaluation at the end of the school year Have all advisors complete a year-end evaluation of the organization The position of Lead Advisor will require additional time outside of the normal staff work day.

Compensation

is $1,250.00 per year, which may be prorated based upon the effective date of appointment.
