Prior purchasing experience is helpful, but not required . We're looking for someone who is comfortable working in Excel , stays organized, follows through, communicates effectively, and enjoys solving problems. Experience in manufacturing, inventory, logistics, operations, customer service, or another fast-paced environment can translate well to this role.
You'll work closely with our Senior Buyer and learn the purchasing side of a multi-site food manufacturing business, including supplier coordination, purchase orders, inventory and material needs, ERP systems, purchasing data, and cross-functional operations. This is a full-time, onsite position at our Monroe, Wisconsin facility.
What You'll Do
Purchase materials, supplies, and services from approved suppliers using established pricing and purchasing guidelines. Create and maintain purchase orders and purchasing information in our ERP system. Communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, order confirmations, shipment status, delivery schedules, and other purchasing needs.
Follow up on open orders and help ensure materials and supplies are available when needed to support production. Research and help resolve purchase order, receiving, invoice, and delivery discrepancies. Maintain accurate supplier information, purchasing records, and documentation. Use Excel and ERP data to prepare reports, organize information, identify discrepancies, and track follow-up needs.
Support supplier changes, packaging evaluations, product samples, and other procurement projects. Work closely with Operations, Finance, Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse, and other teams across our facilities. Take on additional purchasing responsibilities as your knowledge and experience grow. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
What We're Looking For
You don't need to come to us already knowing our purchasing processes or systems—we can teach those. We're looking for someone who: Has intermediate Excel skills , including sorting, filtering, formulas, pivot tables, and working with data. Is organized and able to keep track of multiple priorities, deadlines, and follow-ups.
Communicates confidently and professionally with both internal teams and external suppliers. Takes initiative and follows through when information, materials, or answers are needed. Enjoys solving problems, investigating discrepancies, and figuring out what happened. Is accurate and detail-oriented while still understanding when something needs to move quickly.
Is comfortable learning new systems and processes. Works well with people across different departments and levels of the organization.
Education
& Experience Associate's or bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Operations Management, Finance, or a related field preferred, but not required . Relevant work experience will also be considered. Experience in manufacturing, production, inventory, logistics, supply chain, purchasing, customer service, or operations is helpful but not required.
Previous experience with purchasing, ordering, supplier coordination, inventory, or purchase orders is a plus. Experience using an ERP system, such as SAP, is a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to alternate between computer-based work and activities throughout office, warehouse, and manufacturing environments. Regularly walk through warehouse and manufacturing areas to support purchasing activities and coordinate with internal teams.
Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods as needed. Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.
