Position Details

Job Title: Permanent Full-Time Lead Cook

Location: DeKalb County Jail, Auburn, Indiana

Starting Wage: $19.00 per hour

Work Hours: Varying days and hours between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM

Schedule: Must be available to work weekends and holidays

Duties and Responsibilities

As our Lead Cook, you will play an important role in supporting the kitchen's daily operations.

Responsibilities include

Leading, directing, and assisting inmate workers with kitchen activities

Preparing, cooking, and baking meals

Following company recipes and established food service procedures

Assisting with meal preparation and daily kitchen operations

Maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the kitchen

Performing kitchen cleanup and sanitation duties

Following all procedures required in a structured correctional facility

What You Need to Succeed

We are seeking a candidate who is responsible, team-oriented, and ready to contribute to a positive working environment.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent

Ability to read and follow company recipes

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Strong work ethic, integrity, and a positive attitude

Ability to work effectively in a structured environment

Willingness to learn, follow instructions, and support kitchen operations

Ability to obtain the necessary facility clearance

Kitchen or food service experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right person!
