Drew University is located in the Watts-Willowbrook area of south Los Angeles and was founded in 1966 in the wake of the Watts uprising. CDU was founded to address inadequate medical care in the region and to provide equitable medical education opportunities for under-represented students.

CDU offers the only historically black Doctor of Medicine program west of the Mississippi, and is strongly invested in the local and regional community. The university leads multiple partnerships and programs to provide equitable healthcare resources in a variety of south Los Angeles neighborhoods. The Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and Admissions will manage and assist with the implementation of the programmatic operations of Admissions in the Office of Medical Student Affairs for the CDU Medical School.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Oversees and is responsible for all aspects of application management including the electronic preparation and maintenance of all applicant files (AMCAS, Supplemental, Interview Rating and Screening Forms, acknowledge receipt of application fees, and related documents) for the CDU Medical School. Oversees and is responsible for coordinating initial screening of all applicants and processing changes in admissions and student records for the CDU Medical School.

Oversees the process all data entry and paperless admissions system using various software packages and systems for the CDU Medical School. Oversees the preparation of letters and electronic communication for admissions decisions for the CDU Medical Oversees the creation of the admissions calendar and coordination of the logistics for Admissions Events including activities for the admissions committee and recruitment.

Oversees and coordinate activities for recruiting events and welcoming new Oversee the operations of the Admissions Committee and serves as an ex-officio member of the Admissions Committee of the CDU Medical School. Serve on various academic program committees and sub-committees pertaining to the College of Attend and represent the College of Medicine or University at local and national meetings related to Ensure that all accreditation requirements and reports relative to admissions are met, including LCME and WASC Comply with and keep up to date admissions policies and procedures for the CDU Medical Participate in the Educational Policy and Curriculum Committee to ensure interface of student admissions and educational affairs.

EXPERIENCE: Academic credentials appropriate for appointment to the COM faculty, at the rank of Assistant or Associate A minimum of two years of experience as a member of a medical school admissions Leadership experience with demonstrated skill in staff supervision, team building and personnel and program KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILLS: Knowledge of and commitment to the unique mission of Working knowledge of general CDU and COM policy and procedures, and AAMC standards for student admission Strong interpersonal skills and mature judgment sufficient to ensure efficient collaboration and liaison with diverse constituencies at all functional levels.

Ability to motivate, train and supervise others Ability to work on multiple projects and tasks concurrently while tracking and meeting Strong communication and program assessment abilities, with demonstrated verbal, presentation and facilitation COMPLEXITY: The ability to perform highly detailed work with sustained attention and care while providing/obtaining information on numerous inquiries is paramount to success in this position.

Compensation
