Department: COM | PSY & AR State Hospital Partnership Department's Website: Summary of Job Duties: The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) welcomes applications from candidates who desire to be part of a dynamic and supportive team. We seek candidates immediately for full-time faculty positions for contract work at the Arkansas State Hospital, a 222-bed free-standing psychiatric hospital located near UAMS. The Arkansas State Hospital positions are primarily clinical with a focus on the treatment of persons with forensic issues. Opportunities for research and teaching/mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows are available.

Qualifications

M.D. or equivalent degree required. Must be ABPN-certified or eligible for certification in Psychiatry, with the expectation of becoming certified under UAMS bylaws. Eligibility for and subsequent success in obtaining an unrestricted Arkansas medical license, malpractice insurance, and credentialing by Central Arkansas teaching hospitals are required.

Successful candidates will be excellent clinicians as well as outstanding teachers or researchers. Able to work well collaboratively and enjoy being part of a team that is accomplishing more than any individual can accomplish.

Responsibilities

Teaching and mentorship of medical students, residents, and fellows as needs are identified. Working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Providing excellent clinical care, including evidence-based psychiatric diagnostic assessment and treatment. Providing court reports and testimony for forensic and civil cases.

Completing medical records according to professional standards and in a timely manner using the Arkansas State Hospital EMR system.
