Business Development Representative
Job description
Build the sales skills to take your career further. Business Development Representative NBS, powered by Hubexo Location: Newcastle Compenation Basic + Monthly Commision £32,000 OTE | Uncapped commission 35 hours per week | Three days at One Trinity Gardens, two working from home You don’t need a previous sales job to get started.
You do need the confidence to pick up the phone, ask questions and keep going when the answer is no. In our NBS Specifier team, you’ll start conversations with architects, designers and engineering consultancies that don’t currently use our solutions. You’ll learn how they create construction specifications-the information that sets out the materials, products and standards needed for a project-and where NBS could improve that work.
Your role
is to turn those conversations into qualified meetings for our Business Development Managers. You’ll learn how to research a business, understand its needs and recognise when there’s a worthwhile reason to talk further. What you’ll do Research organisations and identify relevant decision-makers. Approach prospective customers by phone, supported by email and LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
Ask questions about their workflows, challenges and priorities. Qualify interest and arrange relevant meetings or demonstrations with our BDMs. Follow up consistently and give colleagues a clear handover. Keep your prospect information and activity accurate in HubSpot. Work towards agreed activity, pipeline and meeting targets, using feedback to improve.
Proactive outbound prospecting is central to this role. You’ll need to stay organised, listen carefully and maintain your approach when prospects aren’t ready to speak. What you’ll bring Previous BDR, SDR, telesales or customer-facing experience could help, but it isn’t essential. Neither is knowledge of construction.
We’re looking for clear communication, curiosity and persistence. You’ll be comfortable starting conversations with people you haven’t met, willing to learn from coaching and reliable in following up on what you’ve agreed. Your development You’ll work with experienced sales managers and BDMs, with practical support and feedback as you learn the product, market and sales process.
You’ll develop your prospecting, questioning, objection-handling and qualification skills, while learning how your colleagues take a sales conversation through demonstration, proposal and close. This role is a stepping stone towards Business Development Manager. As your capability and performance develop, you’ll discuss your readiness for that next step with your manager.
What you’ll get £32,000 on-target earnings, with uncapped commission. A 35-hour working week, Monday to Friday. Three days each week at our One Trinity Gardens hub and two working from home. 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, with the option to buy or sell holiday. Birthday leave and two volunteering days. Pension and life assurance.
Discounted private medical insurance. 24/7 remote GP access and an Employee Assistance Programme. Onsite gym, eye-care support and a cycle-to-work scheme. An interest-free travel-ticket loan. Our hiring process You’ll complete an online sales assessment before interview. Allow around 45 minutes. The interviews will give us time to explore your approach and potential, and you time to understand the role, team and development ahead.
If you need reasonable adjustments at any stage, let our Talent Acquisition team know.
