Job description

Job Description – Composites Production Coordinator The key purpose of the Composite Production Coordinator at SSTL is to plan, coordinate and control production throughput across the composite manufacturing facility, ensuring work is prioritised and completed safely, efficiently and in line with programme, quality and delivery requirements.

Working closely with Manufacturing, Planning, Engineering, AIT, Supply Chain and PA/QA, the coordinator maintains a clear view of capacity, material availability, priorities and constraints; drives timely resolution of issues; and provides accurate production status to support the delivery of conforming spacecraft hardware.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily composite production activities, priorities and workflow to achieve programme build plans and delivery milestones.
  • Maintain production schedules and visual controls, tracking work orders, capacity, work in progress and completion status.
  • Confirm that materials, tooling, documentation, facilities and trained resources are available before work starts.
  • Identify bottlenecks, shortages and quality or technical constraints, escalating issues and coordinating recovery actions with relevant teams.
  • Provide accurate production updates, forecasts and performance information to programme stakeholders and support planning reviews.
  • Drive efficient throughput and continuous improvement while maintaining SSTL quality, configuration, traceability, safety and contamination-control requirements.
  • Maintain an organised production environment and promote effective housekeeping, FOD prevention and safe working practices. Person Specification Key Requirements
  • ONC/HNC, apprenticeship or equivalent experience in manufacturing, production engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience coordinating production within composites, aerospace, space or another high-precision regulated environment.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities and maintain production flow.
  • Ability to interpret build plans, engineering documentation, routings and production data; experience with ERP or MRP systems is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of quality, configuration, traceability and non-conformance controls in a controlled manufacturing environment.
  • Clear communication, confident stakeholder coordination and a practical, proactive approach to resolving production issues.
