Job Type: Direct Hire Salary Range: $20.03–$41.36 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications Weekend Differential: $2.50 per hour Sign-On Bonus: 1-year commitment: $5,000 2-year commitment: $10,000 3-year commitment: $20,000 Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Histology Technician I to join a dedicated laboratory team.

This role focuses on preparing tissue specimens for microscopic examination by pathologists, primarily through cutting and embedding, with opportunities to perform special stains depending on experience and equipment proficiency. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, knowledge of laboratory safety procedures, and a commitment to accurate specimen preparation and quality patient care.

No prior experience is required. Shift Options Multiple scheduling options are available to accommodate different preferences: 10-hour shifts: 4 days per week, typically 6:00 AM–3:30 PM as scheduled. 8-hour shifts: Also Available Morning shift: Monday–Friday, with approximately one Saturday morning per month. Evening shift: Monday–Friday.

Night shift: Sunday–Thursday or Monday–Friday, depending on the assigned schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare fixed and frozen tissue specimens for microscopic examination according to established laboratory procedures. Perform tissue cutting and embedding, ensuring accurate and high-quality specimen preparation. Perform special staining procedures when qualified and proficient with the available equipment. Receive, identify, document, catalog, and release tissue specimens according to laboratory protocols.

Assist pathologists with gross examinations and autopsy specimens as required. Prepare laboratory solutions and reagents using established formulas and procedures. Maintain slides, specimen records, quality assurance documentation, and laboratory logs. Operate, maintain, and perform routine troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.

Follow all laboratory safety protocols, including blood and body fluid precautions and chemical hygiene procedures. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment. Support continuous quality improvement initiatives and maintain accurate documentation. Collaborate effectively with pathologists, laboratory personnel, and other healthcare professionals.

Assist with training students, laboratory assistants, and new employees as needed.

Qualifications

Associate degree in a science-related field required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Must be eligible to complete a NAACLS-accredited Histotechnology program within one year of employment. ASCP Histotechnician/Histology certification required within one year of employment, as applicable to the position's requirements. No prior work experience required.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to follow technical procedures and maintain accurate laboratory records. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to recognize specimen preparation issues and follow appropriate troubleshooting procedures.
