PCN 3003 Position Overview: The School of Education and Social Policy at Merrimack College seeks a dynamic communication sciences and disorders professional who will work collaboratively with colleagues and serve in the Speech, Language & Learning Programs. This position is an Open. Rank, Non-Tenure Track (NTT) full-time, 9-month contract for the 2027-2028 academic year.

The successful candidate will work with undergraduate and graduate students in the following Merrimack College Speech, Language & Learning Programs: Speech, Language & Learning Graduate Program Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology (currently a CAA candidate for accreditation) Speech, Language & Learning Undergraduate Minor Undergraduate minor in the Department of Applied Human Development and Community Studies Professional Studies Concentration in Speech, Language & Learning Bachelor’s Degree Completion program Responsibilities Develop and teach courses in general and expertise-specific areas as negotiated with the Academic Dean of the School of Education and Social Policy; Provide undergraduate student career and academic advising; Serve as the full-time faculty member and point person in a specific area of expertise Collaborate with faculty and administration to meet the goals and terms of the strategic plan for the SLL programs, helping to move the graduate program toward accreditation; Ensure that the SLL programs meet existing and long-term student needs; Provide examples of engagement and involvement in the field of communication sciences and disorders through academic, professional, research, and public service; Identify and support the use of research knowledge and experiential learning activities across academic and clinical opportunities in the SLL programs.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have expertise in one or more of the following areas: neurology, dysphagia, AAC, audiology, aphasia, voice, speech and hearing science and/or velopharyngeal function. They will also have, or be eligible for, their ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence, as well as Massachusetts state licensure from the Board of Registration for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.

A graduate degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology. Research Doctoral level degree is preferred (PhD or EdD). However, candidates with significant experience in research, higher education, and clinical practice and supervision will be considered; Academic and clinical expertise in neurology, dysphagia, AAC, audiology, aphasia, voice, speech and hearing science and/or velopharyngeal function; Ability to provide clinical supervision according to ASHA guidelines; Teaching experience in Higher Education; A record of clinical and academic service commensurate with career stage; ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) credential as well as eligibility for Massachusetts state licensure.

The actual pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as, but not limited to, candidate qualifications and prior experience, scope of responsibilities, internal equity, and market considerations. Work Location This is an on-campus position as employees are essential in order to provide a fully on-campus, residential college experience for our students and the community.
