NEW ORLEANS REGIONAL TRANSIT AUTHORITY POSITION ADVERTISEMENT- Represented Opportunity The Regional Transit Authority gets people moving around New Orleans. Our transit services provide mobility to residents of the city as well as tourists, providing incredible views and comfortable rides through historical neighborhoods and countless attractions.

RTA’s system includes 4 streetcar lines, 30 bus routes, 2 ferry routes, and paratransit services. Our passengers take more than 19 million rides every year. This is an Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) employment posting. JOB Title : Reservationist POSITION STATUS: Full-Time Pay rate: $19.42 - $21.58 Hourly JOB SUMMARY The Reservationist is responsible for actively scheduling transportation services for and providing exceptional service to RTA customers.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions upon request Schedules telephone appointments for customers Must use the computerized scheduling/dispatching system to schedule passenger rides.

Edits daily passenger and operating data in the computerized scheduling/dispatching system. Maintains listing of clients' standing appointments and updates client files. Communicates with customers courteously and professionally by providing excellent customer service Relays passenger information to dispatcher(s). Assists dispatcher when appropriate.

Assists with special projects as needed. Attend training sessions and other meetings as required. Performs other job-related duties in keeping with the goals and objectives of RTA. Contributes to ensuring that the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policies and programs of RTA are carried out. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES Ability to patiently talk with passengers over the telephone yet move on to the next caller as quickly as possible.

Ability to make suggestions regarding passengers’ trips. Basic knowledge of the City of New Orleans. Ability to read, write, and communicate with co-workers in an understandable manner. Ability to compute basic arithmetic and tell time accurately. Must be at least 21 years of age. Read, write, speak, and understand English EDUCATION High school graduate or GED EXPERIENCE 21+ years of age A minimum of three (3) years of recent experience directly related to passenger scheduling and customer service, or equivalent.

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS/DEMANDS A valid Louisiana Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions. WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to handle numerous telephone calls in pressurized situations. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. This is a designated Safety Sensitive Position under RTA Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Policy [“Non-USDOT”]. Drug and Alcohol Testing is conducted under the RTA testing authority in accordance with Federal Transit Administration (FTA) regulations
