Job description
NOW HIRING: RESIDENT COMPANION!
Make a difference in someone's evening through conversation, creativity, and companionship.
Wilber Care Center is hiring Resident Companions to help our residents feel connected, engaged, and supported. If you enjoy spending time with older adults, spending time outdoors, playing games, or helping with arts and crafts, this is an opportunity to do meaningful work while supporting our care team.
Schedule and Pay
This position pays $16.00 per hour. Four-hour evening shifts run from 4:00–8:00 p.m., with shifts available Monday through Sunday. Individual workdays will be established during scheduling.
What You'll Do
You'll spend time visiting with residents and helping with arts and crafts, games, music, and other activities based on their interests. You'll provide individual companionship, reassurance, and friendly encouragement, including gentle verbal redirection under nursing staff direction.
You may also accompany residents on walks or outdoor visits as directed by nursing staff, pass water or snacks according to residents' individual needs and staff instructions, and promptly communicate concerns or requests to the nursing team.
This is a nonclinical support position. Duties do not include bathing, dressing, toileting, lifting, transfers, assistance with eating, medication administration, or other CNA or nursing responsibilities.
What We're Looking For
Applicants must be at least 16 years old. No CNA certification is required, and training is provided.
We're looking for someone who is patient, dependable, friendly, and comfortable interacting with older adults, including individuals living with dementia. The ability to follow directions, communicate with coworkers, and respect residents' privacy and choices is essential.
