Job Summary
The Structural BIM & Drafting Manager is a strategic, innovative, and detail-oriented leader responsible for overseeing BRON’s structural drafting and BIM production team. This role manages the preparation, coordination, and quality control of all structural drawings and BIM models, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to company standards.
The successful candidate will develop and maintain Revit workflows, mentor drafting and BIM staff, and drive continuous improvement in BRON’s digital design processes. This position also plays a key role in maintaining BRON’s BIM/CAD libraries, including templates, families, and project-specific standards, while supporting project teams with technical guidance and troubleshooting.
The Structural BIM & Drafting Manager will work across multiple market sectors and collaborate closely with structural engineers, architects, MEP teams, and other BRON disciplines. Job Duties: BIM Coordination & Management: Lead the setup, development, and maintenance of Revit models for structural engineering projects.
Coordinate model integration with architectural, MEP, and other disciplines to ensure full BIM compatibility. Establish and enforce BIM execution plans, project templates, and naming conventions aligned with company standards. Manage file exchanges, model versioning, and model health checks throughout project lifecycles.
Conduct coordination meetings with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure project BIM/CAD requirements are met. Drawing Production & Quality Control: Participate in project kick-off meetings to establish BIM/CAD workflows and resolve collaboration needs. Supervise and review structural drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with QA/QC standards.
Implement and maintain quality-control procedures for drawings and models. Provide technical support for drafting and modeling challenges. Ensure timely delivery of drawing packages that meet client expectations and regulatory requirements. Team Leadership & Training: Lead and mentor a team of draftsmen and BIM technicians, providing guidance, feedback, and performance oversight.
Develop and deliver ongoing Revit training to improve team proficiency and consistency. Promote a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing. Standards & Innovation: Develop, update, and maintain BIM and drafting standards, libraries, and workflows. Stay informed on BIM technology trends and recommend tools and processes that enhance efficiency and quality.
Support integration of structural analysis and design data into BIM workflows. Additional Responsibilities: Assist management with proposals and client correspondence. Prepare engineering site plans, floor plans, elevations, sections, and detailed drawing packages as needed. Conduct site visits and assessments for as-built documentation.
Coordinate with local regulatory agencies for permit approvals when required. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
& Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Architectural Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field (Bachelor’s preferred). 7–10 years of experience in structural drafting and BIM production within an engineering or architectural firm. Minimum 3 years of experience leading or supervising drafting/BIM teams.
Proven experience working on structural engineering projects across multiple building types and sectors. Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit (structural-specific workflows, families, templates, and model management). Strong skills in AutoCAD, Navisworks, and other BIM coordination tools. Experience developing and maintaining BIM standards, templates, libraries, and procedures.
Solid understanding of structural design principles, construction documentation, and building systems. Familiarity with BIM Execution Plans (BEPs), model health checks, and project coordination processes. Ability to troubleshoot Revit and CAD technical issues quickly and effectively. Working knowledge of structural analysis/modeling integration (e.
g., Robot, ETABS, RISA) is an asset. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook). Demonstrated experience managing and mentoring drafting and BIM staff. Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across disciplines (Structural, Architecture, MEP, etc.)
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, accurate drawings and models. Ability to drive and manage change in digital design processes and standards. Client-focused mindset and ability to represent the company professionally in coordination meetings. Ability to perform site visits, assessments, and field verifications as needed.
Familiarity with local building codes, permitting processes, and regulatory requirements. Commitment to continuous learning, staying current with BIM technology and industry best practices. Salary: Commensurate with experience.
