District Substitute Nurse QUALIFICATIONS : Valid NJ Registered Nurse License or NJ School Nurse Endorsement Demonstrated expertise in school health nursing practice and emergency procedures Knowledge of child growth and development, community and family dynamics, current health issues, and wellness education Knowledge of community health and social services resources and ability to communicate effectively with non-school health professionals and social service agencies Required criminal history background check and proof of U.

S. citizenship or legal resident alien status SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Provides first aid, emergency care, and routine health services to students and staff in accordance with established procedures and district policies. Administers prescribed medications and implements student health care plans as directed and permitted by applicable laws and regulations.

Monitors student health needs and communicates concerns to appropriate school personnel and families. Maintains accurate and confidential student health records and documentation. Maintains a safe, healthy, and supportive school environment and responds appropriately to illness, injury, and medical concerns. Performs other health-related duties as assigned by the school nurse or administration.
