Job Description: Job Title: Cook (Long-Term Care / Nursing Home) Pay Rate: $12.00 per hour Job Summary: The Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, appetizing meals for residents in a long-term care or nursing home setting.

This role ensures that all meals are prepared according to dietary guidelines, safety standards, and residents’ specific health needs.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook meals in accordance with planned menus and dietary requirements Follow special diet instructions (e.g., low sodium, diabetic, pureed diets) Ensure food quality, taste, and proper portioning Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment Store food properly and monitor inventory levels Assist with meal service and plating as needed Follow all local health regulations and food safety standards Work closely with dietary staff and healthcare team to meet residents’ nutritional needs Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent preferred Previous cooking experience in healthcare, hospitality, or food service preferred Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices Ability to follow recipes and dietary restrictions Strong attention to detail and time management skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to lift up to 25–50 pounds Ability to work in a warm kitchen environment Work Environment: Nursing home or long-term care facility May require weekends, holidays, and shift work Additional Skills: Team-oriented with good communication skills Compassionate and respectful toward elderly residents
