Service Manager Location: Wilmington, NC Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire Company Overview Our client is a well-established electrical contractor serving commercial, industrial, and residential customers throughout the Southeast. With a reputation for quality workmanship and long-term customer relationships, the company is seeking an experienced Service Manager to lead its electrical service operations and support continued business growth.

Position Summary

The Service Manager is responsible for leading the daily operations of the electrical service department, ensuring projects and service work are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and profitably. This leadership role oversees estimating, project execution, scheduling, customer relationships, field operations, budgeting, and business development while working closely with company leadership to achieve operational and financial goals.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the daily operations of the electrical service department, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and profitably Oversee estimating, bidding, design-build proposals, and project planning for service work Manage assigned projects from award through completion, including scheduling, purchasing, billing, change orders, and closeout Monitor project profitability, labor productivity, budgets, and job performance Review and approve estimates within authorized limits Coordinate material procurement, subcontractors, equipment, and project resources Prepare monthly job status reports, pay applications, and project updates Provide leadership, coaching, and accountability for field personnel and service teams Monitor labor utilization, productivity, equipment usage, and job-site performance Ensure compliance with company policies, safety programs, quality standards, and applicable regulations Conduct regular job-site visits to monitor quality, safety, and customer satisfaction Develop relationships with general contractors, developers, commercial clients, and property owners Identify new business opportunities and support the growth of the service division Monitor local construction activity and maintain awareness of market opportunities Attend leadership meetings and collaborate with division management on operational planning and performance improvement Requirements Minimum 5+ years of electrical construction or electrical service management experience Previous leadership experience managing electrical service operations, projects, or field personnel Strong knowledge of commercial and industrial electrical construction and service work Experience with estimating, project management, scheduling, budgeting, and change order management Strong understanding of job costing, labor productivity, and project financial performance Ability to develop and maintain relationships with customers, general contractors, and developers Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to customer and job sites Preferred Qualifications Experience managing an electrical service department Design-build estimating experience Experience overseeing multiple service technicians and projects simultaneously Knowledge of local electrical codes, OSHA requirements, and construction safety standards State or local electrical licenses or certifications, where applicable
