Job description
Where dreams and reality collide and the output is, out of this world. At Redwire Space, we are a team of dreamers and doers. Where the impossible becomes possible, and every day is an opportunity to learn and get one step closer to knowing the unknown. Join us on our mission to expand humanity’s presence in space. At Redwire, we develop and deliver advanced technologies that support our nation’s most critical missions.
Our teams work alongside government customers, engineers, and program personnel to solve complex technical challenges while protecting some of the most sensitive information and systems in the Department of Defense. We believe cybersecurity is an enabler—not a roadblock. Our Information Systems Security Officers work directly with engineering, IT, and program leadership to build secure, compliant systems that support mission needs.
If you enjoy solving technical problems, collaborating with engineers, and taking ownership of classified information systems from concept through deployment, we’d like to hear from you. Summary Redwire Space Inc. is seeking an experienced Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to support multiple classified information systems across DoD, Intelligence Community, and Special Access Program (SAP) environments.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing cybersecurity compliance with hands-on technical work. The successful candidate will work closely with program managers, system security engineers, administrators, the ISSM, government officials, and facility security personnel to ensure secure operations, continuous compliance, and successful mission execution.
This position requires a self-starter who is comfortable working independently, communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders, managing cybersecurity documentation, and driving initiatives across the full system lifecycle.
Responsibilities include
Manage the cybersecurity posture of classified information systems throughout the Risk Management Framework (RMF) lifecycle. Responsible for the certification and accreditation of computer networks and standalone information systems using applicable government standards. Develop, maintain, and implement System Security Plans (SSPs) and related documentation that accurately reflect contractual and customer requirements.
Prepare, maintain, and update POA&Ms, Security Assessment Reports, hardware/software inventories, network diagrams, and RMF artifacts. Support ATO, IATT, and continuous monitoring activities, ensuring systems remain compliant and mission-ready. Conduct ongoing vulnerability testing to verify security features and operating controls using tools such as ACAS/Nessus; coordinate remediation with engineering and administration teams.
Perform DISA STIG compliance reviews and assist with secure configuration implementation. Review and coordinate engineering changes for cybersecurity impacts; support configuration management and change control activities. Maintain cybersecurity artifacts within eMASS or customer-specified repositories. Oversee day-to-day security operations for all assigned information systems (classified and unclassified).
Interact directly with internal and external customers, including government security officials, to address routine cybersecurity issues, reporting requirements, system access briefings, and inspections. Develop and implement facility procedures for marking, handling, transporting, sanitizing, reusing, and destroying media and equipment containing classified information.
Coordinate changes to classified system components, environments, and physical locations, including temporary relocations. Assist the ISSM in reporting, documenting, and mitigating information system security incidents; initiate corrective measures to prevent recurrence. Support secure media handling, sanitization, COMSEC activities, and classified data management.
Partner with engineering teams throughout system design, development, integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment to ensure security is incorporated into every phase. Provide cybersecurity guidance and technical expertise to cross‑functional teams. Ideal Experience Successful candidates will bring a blend of technical proficiency, analytical thinking, and strong communication skills.
Experience in the following areas is highly desirable: Risk Management Framework (RMF) Special Access Programs (SAP) and Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) experience Stand‑alone classified systems Air‑gapped environments SCIF operations Continuous Monitoring (CONMON) Vulnerability Management Security engineering Network/system administration Engineering development environments Government cybersecurity inspections Configuration/change management Cross-functional technical collaboration COMSEC Desired Skills This role works closely with systems and network engineering teams.
