Sr. Systems Engineer

Job Description: Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) is a two -year community/technical college that offers more than 75 associate degree, diploma, and certificate programs for students who are either seeking quick entry into the workforce or desiring to transfer to a senior institution to pursue a bachelor’s degree.

HGTC offers three convenient campus locations in South Carolina, including Myrtle Beach, Conway and Georgetown. The Technology Solutions Department at Horry-Georgetown Technical College is seeking candidates for a Senior Systems Engineer. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing senior technical leadership and enterprise-level support for all college-wide information technology systems.

This includes engineering, administering, and maintaining server and storage platforms, network infrastructure, and cybersecurity operations. The position ensures reliable, scalable, and secure technology services that support academic and administrative needs. The role emphasizes best practices in system architecture, cloud adoption, automation, and security frameworks.

While this position offers the opportunity for hybrid work, the employee is required to maintain a 37.5-hour workweek in accordance with State Technical College System requirements and must work on-site as needed to support business operations and institutional needs. Advertised Salary: $79,600 (Minimum)- $111,500(Midpoint) Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and experience in computer system development and modification.

Relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Server virtualization platform administration experience, directory and identity management services (DNS/DHCP/Users and Computers), cloud infrastructure platforms, cloud productivity and collaboration suites, Enterprise SAN/ Storage experience, experience building and supporting enterprise Linux operation systems, datacenter opera ting systems, endpoint and systems management tools, load balancing solutions, CAS/OAuth/SAML experience, enterprise email and collaboration platforms, Requirements are stated broadly and include mobile device management (MDM), datacenter server technologies, certificate management, identity management, and command line scripting.
