About the Role
The Plant Protection Applicator will treat problems as directed in a safe, effective, and efficient manner. As a Plant Protection Applicator, this individual will use their knowledge and skills to mix pesticides and apply them as well as use other pest control methods. The Plant Protection Applicator will work with the Plant Protection Coach(es) and growing area craftsmen to communicate applications being done in their areas.
The Plant Protection Applicator will fill out work orders daily so necessary reporting may be completed on time. Employment Status: Full time Shift: 7:30 am to 4:00 pm ( schedule varries depending on season and business needs) Compensation: Hourly based on experience What You'll Do Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Duties and responsibilities
You will... Follow company guidelines and label directions concerning chemical mixing, applying, reporting, & disposal of pesticide containers Connect hoses and nozzles selected according to equipment and application requirements. Lift, push, and swing spray guns, and hoses to direct spray over designated areas. Operate tractor and spraying equipment in a safe and effective manner.
Place flags for spray applications and conduct other field tasks as needed. Conduct proper housekeeping of chemical storage area & facilities. Perform basic routine maintenance of application equipment. Wear, properly clean, and store personal protective equipment Perform other assigned tasks as directed by Coach.
Who you are
You… Self-motivated, works and communicates well with other team members and teams, to keep them safe. Ability to follow written work orders and verbal instructions from your coach with minimal supervision. Capable of reading and comprehending basic safety information from pesticide labels according to Federal and State regulations.
Ability to properly measure & mix pesticides, which requires some basic math skills. Plant identification is important but can be learned using plant labels. Physically capable of wearing respirator and proper safety equipment, which generally requires being clean shaven. Successfully complete doctor’s physical assessment to use a respirator.
Yearly cholinesterase testing (if cholinesterase inhibitors are being used) (optional in some states).
