School Assistant (Lunch and Recess Supervisor)

Reports To: Building Principal Term: 10 months (student attendance calendar) Schedule: 2 hours per day; 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on all student attendance days (approximately 346 paid hours per year) Wage: Hourly paid by timesheet Position Summary Northbrook/Glenview School District 30 is recruiting school assistants to provide student supervision during elementary (K-5) lunch and recess periods at Wescott and Willowbrook Schools.

The school assistant works as a teammate to the food service program, building custodian, fellow student supervisors, and the front office.

What You'll Do

Ensure the safety and well-being of students during lunch and recess periods Guide students in following routines and behavior expectations set by the building principal and teachers Collaborate with the food service program, building custodian, and front office team Encourage positive social interactions and help students resolve minor conflicts Assist with basic first aid as needed (e.

g., band-aids, ice packs) Help maintain a clean, orderly, and safe lunch and recess environment Required Qualifications High school diploma (or equivalent) or higher Experience working with children preferred Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to maintain a calm and positive demeanor in a fast-paced environment Ability to interact positively and build rapport with elementary school children Flexibility to handle changing situations and unexpected events Keen observation skills to monitor multiple students simultaneously and identify potential safety hazards Ability to remain on feet for extended periods and move quickly when necessary to ensure student safety Attachment(s): School Assistant Job Description .
